Almost done, at last! It was slow work but worth it.
The new leveling system has helped greatly with tiling the bathroom walls, something I have not had to do for quite a long time.

After completing the floor of the main room it was time to tackle the bathroom.
Not a large area but there is the shower space to deal with and then the walls.

After an unusually lengthy delay with delivering our tile order, RMM finally arrived with the goods.
Typically we would wait less than a week but this time it was about a month.

With the rain stopped, at least for a while, it is possible to see the work done to the outside of the house.
Having some welcome sunshine makes it even better to see and also helps with drying the rendering work.

After the new year cold had been shaken off I managed to get on with boarding out the walls for Janet's new pantry.
The 'room' is effectively a huge cupboard off the back room, originally the entrance to the dungeon space, part of the plan was to block it off and turn it into a pantry space.

With a very slow start to the work this year we have actually made some progress.
The ceiling of the new downstairs area (dungeon) has now been painted.

Due to adverse weather conditions, there has been little progress on the house renovation. This is just a notice to keep the blog up to date.
Luís and the guys came on Saturday 3rd December to make a start with the external insulation to the bathroom.

As predicted, Friday started fairly clear and a little chilly but there is no rain in the forecast.
The work continued on the stairs, setting the riser points and fabricating the wooden boards for each step face.

The ever changing weather makes it almost impossible to plan the work from one day to the next.
We desperately want the outside work completed before the weather gets too bad, but finding enough dry time to do the work is difficult. There is still plenty of inside work though.

The weather has not been kind which has slowed some of the work, especially on the outside.
Also, there are two days 'lost' due to a public holiday and a day on another job, so it has only been 13 days and not really three whole weeks.

A break in the wet weather has allowed some work on the exterior to take place.
Some rendering and the concrete foundation for the gateposts.

After two weeks of good work, especially as the weather has been so wet for most of that time, the progress has been impressive.
We have internal walls, some rendering both inside and outside, plumbing and drainage installed, electrical containment installed, and the base structure for the driveway gates.

Yesterday (Monday), just two of the team were here. Luís had other things to attend to.
It didn't seem that much happened except for some of the cementing around the granite blocks that make up the main walls of the room.

After a day off yesterday doing other things, Luís and the guys turned up late this morning. However, within five minutes of arrival, the first barrow load of cement was delivered to the room to continue the bricklaying.
A whole load of bricks had been placed in just over an hour before lunchtime was called.

Even though the rain has arrived we still have to get on with the renovation work. Part of the plan is finishing the exterior rendering of the house which means removing the badly cracked and loose cement on the outside of the back room.
This has always been an eyesore and, before the new roof was installed, it let in a lot of water thus weakening the bond.
