Our final day in Rome was spent exploring some places that we had not visited previously.

The fourth day was a late start. We had tickets to visit the Vatican later in the day.
After travelling to the city and looking around, we toured the Castel Sant'Angelo, which is situated at the end of the via leading to the Vatican.

The second full day of our itinerary was a visit to the Colosseum and the Forum archaeological site.
The metro took us directly to the Colosseum, where you step out of the station facing the massive structure.

The second week of our holiday was spent in Rome, the capital city of Italy.
We had travelled from Naples by train, which took a little over two hours.

A visit to the national museum and then a stroll around the shops in the city.

The second full day of our holiday in Naples was a prebooked excursion to Mount Vesuvius and the town of Pompeii.
Armed with the camera and water bottles, we walked from the hotel to the meeting point near the railway station. Much easier than walking up the hill.
