Winter is now well and truly (probably) over. Sunshine from dawn through to late afternoon when the clouds bubble up and then warm through the night. Hot like a hot Summer day in the UK and we're just getting to the end of April.

The weather has really picked up in the past few days, lots of sun and a good breeze from the South is making the place feel really pleasant.
Had an enjoyable train ride from Fundão to Lisboa on Friday afternoon to meet Janet from work.

It really is feeling more and more like home. After a decent, though cold, day yesterday we're back to the rain and more rain predicted for the next few days.
Apparently it has been the coldest and wettest March on record. During our good walk last weekend we went past some of the damage done to the forest by the fires last year and also damage caused by the torrential rain over the past month or so.

OK, that's the end of our six months language course Portuguese Para Todos It has been really enjoyable although difficult at many times.
The final test was surprisingly easy compared to the others but composition part of the test was embarrassingly frustrating; it's is very difficult to make up something to write and even harder to construct it in Portuguese. We have to learn how to think Portuguese and not English.

Rain, sleet, snow, high winds, low winds, raging seas and now a mini tornado reported in the news. We are told to expect at least a week of this.
Of course the land needs a good soaking and the rain is welcome. Janet's plants will be loving it. We even needed a raincoat to go to the shops yesterday. So glad we came to Portugal for better weather, it gets more homelike every day.
Hope they don't blame us for it.

Much later than hoped and certainly much needed, it is finally raining.
With some water reserves down below 20% of their normal capacity things were getting desperate in places. We´ve seen news reports about some areas being the driest in living memory.
We are fortunate here in Fundão to be in a built up area and we have 'mains' water but not far out of town are many areas where water is taken from a well or borehole.

So, I have been spending a little more time updating the website and tidying up the server contents.
It is unbelievable that so much junk can be accumulated over the years. And, inevitably, some long forgotten gems have turned up - thus distracting me from the task I am supposed to be doing.

Once again the day dawns bright and clear.
Although chilly overnight the days are nice and warm in the sunshine. Last weekend we decided to take a trip to Serra da Estrela, apparently so did everyone else in Portugal !!

So we have the site back up and running.
Still lots to do but working on it.
