With great pleasure, we announce that the stairs to the dungeon are very nearly complete.

Looking much better with the granite linings hiding the crumbly cement surface.

The pieces were ordered back in early November and it was agreed that they would be ready before Christmas. We were hoping that we would be surprised this time and receive the delivery within the specified time scale.

This, of course, was wishful thinking and we experienced the usual lengthy delay. However, in compensation, we did receive the third pillar cap and cube assembly for the back garden gate post as a gift from João at Granidarte.

I set to work installing the granite almost straight away.

The easy, straight, section did not take too long to complete.

The kite turn was also relatively simple, I was rather proud of my measurements for those three odd shapes which only needed the smallest of adjustments.

The work is almost done but, because the upper floor is not actually level, I do have to compensate for this by adjusting the last two risers in order to make the final two steps slope slightly to match the floor. Not noticeable to anyone without a spirit level and nothing too different from the rest of the house, but necessary to match the floor.
