With the past couple of months being hot, sometimes very hot and sunny every day it's quite a shock when that ends, the weather turns cooler and, for a brief period, wet. We had some welcome rain over most of the country which helped with the fires and to some extent should prevent any more big outbreaks.
Surprisingly, one of the yucca plants has decided to show a flower head. At the beginning of last week it suddenly sprouted a stalk which quickly reached about 60cm (2 feet) long. Over the past weekend the flowers have opened and it looks lovely. Especially as the weather has brightened up a lot compared to last week. We have a number of these plants but only this one has flowered, so far.
