Following recent holidays, our suitcases have suffered from being dragged across the cobbled streets of Lisbon and Porto.

And the last holiday to Italy was too much for them.

Some wheels lost their 'tread' band and others were badly scuffed and worn down.

The cases themselves are perfectly fine, a little scraped, but fully working.

I investigated the process of removing the wheels from the castor units, but obtaining replacement wheels of the correct size was not easy or cost effective. Also, some of the castors were badly worn anyway.

A little Googling threw out some suppliers of what appeared to be exactly the same wheel units. As expected, the supplier was in China, but promised a quick delivery and a 5€ refund if the order did not arrive before July 30th. I was sceptical, but the price was too good to ignore with free shipping.

Anyway, the two sets of new wheel units arrived today, and they fit perfectly.

The cases are back to their fully functional glory, smooth, quiet rolling, at a fraction of the cost of new cases.

Now we are ready for our next trip - hopefully at Christmas.
