So, it has been some time since the last blog entry. Janet and I had been ill through much of May, and both the work and blog have been neglected.

But much has happened since the last entry.

We had a long, long delay waiting for the shower tray which was desperately needed before the wall tiles could be completed. I called BigMat more than once to enquire where our order was but the promised return call never happened. I went to the shop and the salesperson said they had received the item - great! However, they could not find it in the warehouse. It took four staff members 45 minutes to search and finally locate it hidden under a much larger item. Then it was noted that the size was wrong, we ordered a 110cm x 90cm base but the one sent by the supplier was just 100cm x 90cm.

As we had already wasted so much time waiting for this and not wanting to delay the work any further, I decided to accept the shorter shower base and get the thing home. As we had ordered a glass side screen for the shower at 100cm wide to suit the longer base I asked them to change that item to be 95cm wide to accommodate the shorter base. She promised to do that and call me back.

A couple of days later the call came and I was told that the size could not be changed as the order had already been shipped, this was yet another disappointment.

Putting the annoyance behind us, I could finally get on with the work in the bathroom.

The new shower base and the white tiles go nicely.

Finally, the large water heater can be installed in its new location and the temporary water heater was removed.

All this had been happening during May, I had hoped that all the work would be done by the middle of the month so that we could do other work before our first guests arrive for the last week of June.

Time is now against us.
