Finally, after a long wait, the email that we had been hoping for has arrived telling us that the new windows and door were ready.
Now, barely a week later, they are all installed and the rooms are almost secured from the weather, with just a little sealant required to complete the task.
With almost 30% more glass area there is more daylight in the rooms, yet the double glazing units also keep more of the sun's heat out, it has been noticeably less hot in the main room but the real test will be in the coming weekend when we are expecting temperatures in the high 30's - scorchio!
Without the chunky wooden frame, mullions and muntin bars of the old windows we also have a much better view out of the windows to the countryside and beyond.
Another great aspect is the new door which means we can easily get in and out of the upper level without having to trek through the kitchen and it can be locked which is a bonus. The old door was simply propped closed by a length of steel bar.
Things are looking good for getting the project back on track.
