Work has been going on with the renovation.

After a few more slow weeks, the flooring has arrived so it was time to up the tempo a little and get on with it as we wanted to get the painting done before installing the new flooring - sounds like a good idea.

Final filling and skimming of the walls and ceilings has been going on. Many nights with aching shoulders and elbows after working on the ceilings. But it got done.

We chose some pastel colours for the three rooms and after getting everything primed we got the white paint onto the ceilings and then set about the walls.

After nearly a week, the result is very pleasing, though the photo's do not show the colours accurately.

The office room has a pale ivory colour.

And a dangling chandelier.

In the bedroom we have a pale lilac colour which should go nice with the purple curtains which we just ordered.

With another dangling light fitting in a very dark brown and copper colour which matches the wall lights and the bed frame.

All of the rooms have some unpainted walls which will be wallpapered when that arrives. And in the bedroom we have a wall of wardrobes to install, again, when they arrive.

For the living room the theme is grey, because it is such a bright room we decided that we could make the walls slightly darker and still keep the room looking large and airy.

And, because this room will certainly be the hottest during the Summer months, we have a large ceiling fan to blow the air around.

Finally, a couple of lights on the feature wall for those cosy nights in front of the telly. They do look much better than the picture implies and that wall will have a bold pattern wallpaper once it arrives.

At the moment of writing this entry we are awaiting the delivery of almost all of the furniture from Ikea.

The 'phone call from the settee supplier should also happen any day to arrange delivery for this week.

As mentioned previously, to finish the work the wallpaper and curtains are also in the pipeline but will no doubt be a few weeks as some of the paper is has to be shipped from over the Atlantic, though we hope to receive the curtains (8 sets !) sooner.
