Lots more fun investigating and upgrading the electrics.
Gone are the redundant 3-phase circuits, the ancient switch box along with the overloaded and burned cable to the workshop. A new meter was installed a couple of months ago when the supply was increased from the minimum 3.45kva to a whopping 6.9kva (30 amps).
Now much neater than the electrical board that was here when we arrived.
I have now installed new breakers to individually isolate the various parts of the property. One circuit to the kitchen/new part of the house, one to the workshop and one for the old part of the house.
The eagle eyed among you will notice the earthing arrangement which is now connected and suitably sized to probably work if needed, though that will be upgraded properly in time.
There still remains a section of old cable to remove which has proved quite difficult to access and the old lighting circuit for the cellar which has neither earthing or isolation - but this will all be stripped out and properly renewed when the work begins on the old part of the building.
The quote for replacing the roof has been approved and we hope this work will begin by the end of September, completion before November in time for the rainy season to test it.
Serious demolition in a few weeks.
