Exactly three weeks ago I ordered the metalwork and plasterboard for the bathroom ceiling from Fundagesso. I knew there would be a delay because my order was only for a few items and they would need to combine the delivery to make it worthwhile coming all this way to Vale de Prazeres.

I didn't expect it to take so long though.

After calling in to 'remind' them a couple of times, I was told that they were still waiting for another order to my locality and hopefully, my stuff would be delivered soon.

All the while, my work is falling further behind schedule.

Ten days after the Fundagesso order I went to Granidarte to order the replacement granite stairs for the bathroom entrance. On Thursday last I had a call from João to say that the stairs were ready, in record time. Thinking quickly, it struck me that I could get the plasterboard and things collected by the Granidarte delivery so I asked the question. To my huge relief, João was happy to help and he agreed to bring everything the next day.

Finally, on Friday, I had the materials and was able to get on with the work.

First, I had to fit the angle profile around the perimeter of the wall, this is the reference for the level ceiling. Next, I had to bend each of the 53 hangers to the correct size to support the metal rails, and then screw those to the existing ceiling.

And, finally, before fitting the plasterboard, I had to cut the insulation roll into strips to fit between the hangers over the rails.

This should make a big difference, and keep the bathroom much warmer in winter.

A pretty good day's work.

Tomorrow - plasterboarding.
