With the unfortunate events of the previous week put well and truly behind, more progress has been made.
This week it is looking somewhat tidier and almost ready for tiling.
Firstly, new electric runs for the underfloor heating and spa bath were installed.
Next, the re-routed and extended pipework was connected up and successfully leak tested, with success meaning no leaks.
Then, the waste pipe from the original sink unit was cut and a new section fitted to provide a drain for the proposed new bath. I forgot to get any pictures of that work.
The void above the main staircase, while quite useful as storage, was an eyesore and I bricked that up.
All of the excavations and channels for the plumbing and electrics have been filled with cement.
Finally, the new brickwork was rendered over to provide a nice surface for the tiling.
Now the wait is on for delivery of the materials for a false ceiling so that we can fit some insulation above, where most of the heat escapes. The outside walls have external insulation but there is no access to the roof space above the bathroom so we are limited to insulating the ceiling.
The new shower base and a bath have been ordered, they will take a few weeks to arrive but that gives time to get the ceiling finished, rearrange the shower drain, and then the floor and walls tiled.
Things are moving on.
