After a day off from the renovation work, only to do housework instead, I returned today to get more of the wall framing installed. I am rapidly running out of suitable drill bits to put holes in the new tiles, these things are so hard for the first 60-70% of the tile thickness even the specialist tile bits are being destroyed even with water cooling.

The bits still get so hot that a couple have actually shed the carbide insert because the braising/soldering had softened. The masonry bits can only be sharpened a few times but fortunately there are only about four more holes to do in the kitchen floor.

Most of the basic framing is now done, there is some detail to work out before completing the parts round the door and windows but this will have to wait until the new door and windows are fitted.

We will be ordering those tomorrow!!

Next task will be to install the conduit and accessories for the new electrics and then get the plasterboard fitted at the business end of the kitchen.
