It has been some time since the last update on the back room. Very little has happened over the past couple of years except for a little furniture rearrangement.

Because of the damp, miserable weather, the recent decorating activity has now extended to the back room.

We originally refurbished the back room to use as a bedroom while the upstairs part of the old house was being gutted and renovated. The decor was simply plain white, which was perfectly fine to get the job done quickly.

Once the bedroom was completed the back room became our 'activity' room for crafts and music.

Janet recently ordered a wall mural to brighten up the space, this room has no natural light except for the small windows in the exterior door and, being North facing, receives no significant sunlight.

After hanging the wallpaper to the new staircase and upstairs I had plenty of paste left over and more than two rolls of the rather expensive paper.

Rather than waste the paste I have installed the paper onto one of the walls in the back room, and took the opportunity to hang the wall mural.

The section of the mural that was cut out from the doorway has been used to brighten up the small door to the pantry.

Finally, with the furniture re-installed, we have a spare single bed that can double as a settee.

With the green door curtains re-fitted, it all looks remarkably cosy and peaceful, a permanent Summer sunrise.
