I like to try my hand at all types of construction and maintenance and feel that I can manage most things.
However, plastering has been my nemesis since trying it for the first time in 1985. I tried and tried many times but could not properly get the hang of it.
We built a small garden wall of clay bricks and to protect it from the weather it needed to have a coat of render applied. It seemed like a good project for me to try my rendering skills, the wall is only about 40cm high and is mostly straight. What could go wrong? I have watched the YouTube video lessons and it looks pretty easy.
We purchased some bags of prepared render, just add water and mix properly for a perfect finish.
It was a little slower than those guys in the videos but I managed to complete the task in one day. It is by no means a professional job but it seems to be holding together and dried with no cracks.
The whole wall is around 17m long in three sections.
I still have to do the same finish for the perimeter of the pond, but that is a structure with both convex and concave surfaces. It will be more of a challenge but "nothing ventured, nothing gained" as the saying goes.
It should be fun, I hope.
Good Job, Mr Nason. Another string to your bow.....
I'm good for walls up to 2 feet high, not sure about a full sized project yet. 😂
Just build multiple 2ft high walls.
