Some years after starting the project and deciding that we could include a guest suite in the house renovation, we finally received guests.
Our younger daughter Rachel, and her partner/boyfriend Steve, are visiting from Macclesfield.
We have waited a long time to entertain visitors to the house so it is quite exciting.
With slightly more than a week to enjoy the experience, we have too much to show them but at least managed a trip to the Torre at Serra da Estrela.
Having arrived just before lunchtime we had a brief walk around and then went for a huge meal at the restaurant. As is usual, the servings were very generous and equally tasty.
Afterward, some of us enjoyed the 'heart' swing on the esplanade outside the restaurant and then moved on to try and walk off some of the food.
To our surprise, just below the Torre, we spotted a valley with a significant layer of snow ice and duly went to investigate.
Almost into July, and with recent temperatures at our house reaching over 30ºC, amazingly we could walk around on a snowfield.
We ended the afternoon with the inevitable tour of the gift shops and after sampling lots of presunto, cheese, and liqueurs, bought a supply of local cheese.
