After a long break from writing new entries, we are back with a few updates.
First, Janet's new compost bin for the garden.
The original bin I made 3½ years ago had become so rotten that it was barely holding together. I had made that from some of the wood we removed from the house during the demolition phase.
The new construction is much more sturdy and should last many years because it is made from decking boards and posts made from recycled plastic.
Also, the new design has three compartments so the compost can be aged properly and there is a door for each compartment to remove the content from the bottom of the box.
By dividing the contents, it may speed up the composting process.
The bottom 'flap' doors will provide easy access to the best compost.
There are no lids to the compartments as yet, but that is being worked on.
