After a fantastic break away in France for a surprise birthday present, we returned hopeful that the work would commence in the basement area.
Sadly this was not to be. The work was postponed for yet another week.
But, the day finally arrived on Monday, Luís and his team turned up just before 9 am and unloaded their equipment.
After a brief discussion to re-agree the requirements, the work actually started - a moment that had been anticipated for such a long time.
After just the first day we can now see the beginning of the rooms as designed.
A trench around the interior perimeter was opened up to lay drainage tubes and then covered with gravel.
Some additional tidying up of the walls using a decent sized breaker Luís smoothed off some granite chunks at the base of the back wall.
The foundations for the interior walls were laid and some further digging of the channel to carry the waste pipes from the bathroom and kitchenette was done.
