As we are growing vegetables and fruit in the garden, we had a couple of small covered frames to start the seeds before planting in the vegetable plot.

These worked well for the first couple of years but the sun soon ruined the polythene covers making them quite useless.

We decided that a better greenhouse was needed.

The new kit was ordered some time ago and I extended the concrete base to site the new greenhouse next to the workshop. It is a simple construction of an aluminium frame and thin (very thin!) polycarbonate panels which proved rather flimsy. This was evident when we went away for our short wedding anniversary break, the wind picked up and removed a few of the panels - one of which we never saw again.

Undeterred, we purchased a couple of thicker polycarbonate sheets and cut them to size to replace the roof panels. Then, I modified the whole thing by installing 'support' wires over the roof panels and some of the wall panels to prevent them from blowing out again. This seems to have worked and with the next storm that passed only the unsupported panels were blown out. Thus, I eventually fitted the wire to all sides of the greenhouse and this measure has worked, everything remains intact for the past couple of months.

We now have plenty of seedlings propagating in the greenhouse, here are just a few.
