After playing for a few years and slowly improving, it seemed a good idea to try something different. The Ibanez was great but I was thinking of the couple of tunes that we played that needed low Eb (D#) or even a low D. A 5 string instrument would make that possible without having to fiddle with tuning up and down during the session.
I visited a few music shops and tried a few models and didn’t really find anything that was comfortable except for a Yamaha BB1025X, which I certainly could not afford!.
After scouring eBay for a few months, eventually a Yamaha BB425X came up at a location not too far from home.
Although this is the budget version of the 1025 it would surely be good enough for me. I went to Altrincham and tried it, it was great.
I just need to learn how to play 5 string!
