A little more work on removing the interior walls resulted in some success. The walls are unbelievably robust and heavy. I decided that the best way to proceed would be to remove the render skin from one side and hope that the remainder could just be knocked over.
No such luck, but the strategy did allow me to get at the wooden core of the wall.
Again, the wall was so solid that it would not tip over. I had to break through the cement along a line about half way down and carefully saw through the wooden posts.
Eventually the top section began to give way and I was able to break it off with the help of a large lever.
Knocking over the lower section was slightly easier.
Now we have a partially open area and only another 12 or 13 meters of wall left to destroy.
