We are not particularly high [from sea level] at our house, the GPS shows it at about 570m (1,870 ft).
We do have quite good views across the plain towards Monsanto and Spain.
The recent cooler and wetter weather coupled with warming sunshine in the day helps the low mist form. We now see the mountains poking out of the mist/cloud in the distance, as though the valley is flooded.
Monsanto is one of those 'must visit' places in Portugal and we have been a couple of times but always when the weather has been clear.
It must be interesting to be there when the whole mountain is surrounded by the mist.
I have not quite worked out what the other, apparently lower, hill is a little further South, I believe it is probably Idana-A-Nova but the distances are very difficult to determine, it could be the Spanish border.
