The work has taken longer than hoped, just like most of the other jobs, but we are very near to completion of the guest suite.

The curtains have been ordered for a couple of weeks and should arrive by the middle of September.

Those little, insignificant tasks which never seem to get on the 'today' list have now been done.

One small job was to fill in the top of the window openings. The new windows were made small because the stone 'frames' are anything but level and square. Rather than baulk the space up with messy silicone we decided to use some small granite pieces and cement those into the gap and make it look like the rest of the wall.

The camera flash does highlight the silicone that was applied by the window installer, this doesn't look too good but it can (and will) be cleaned up.

The other outstanding part of the project was the cupboard to hide the electrical installation next to the main door. When the kitchen was being made I requested to buy some of the same material that was used for the kitchen units. This was delivered when they installed the kitchen and, after building a timber frame around the electric equipment, I have created a cupboard to match the kitchen.

The unit has three, flush fit, doors for access to the respective devices.

So, the room is almost ready for occupation by the first guests.

The large settee may, or may not, be staying in the room. It is a large piece of furniture and takes up a lot of space.
